How to adopt an animal from Alberta Animal Services

Visit the Alberta Animal Services facility at 4640-61 Street to view our animals in person. Our viewing hours are from 11:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Saturday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

After your initial visit, you’ll then be asked to return with any family members who will be living with the new animal. This ensures that the animal is compatible with your family. If you are adopting a dog, you’ll be asked to return with any dogs you already have to ensure that the resident dog and the new dog are well-matched.

If the animal requires spay/neuter surgery, he/she will be taken to the clinic where the procedure will be done. You can then pick up your new pet from the clinic.

PLEASE NOTE: Adoptions from Alberta Animal Services are final. If for some reason you can no longer  take care of your new pet, the animal can be returned to the Alberta Animal Services facility but surrender fees may apply (adoption fee is  non-refundable). Please ensure that you have fully discussed your decision to adopt an animal with all members of your family before starting the adoption process.
