Volunteering for the Animals
We have monthly fundraising events or adoption events. We always need extra help. It could be a microchipping event, to a special adoption event, Christmas photos, pub nights or silent auctions, etc. Raising funds for our animals is our top priority. By raising funds, we can do large rescue missions to help more animals in need where animal services are not available. The funds raised help pay for major/minor surgical procedures, shelter supplies, dog and cat food and general veterinarian expenses.
We require that you are a minimum of 16 years of age, able to attend training if needed, and be able to handle cleaning kennels. If you want your younger youth to volunteer, they would need to be accompanied by an adult.
Other ways to help:
If you can’t physically visit the shelter, there are other ways to help. First and foremost is Monetary donations.
No matter your age, location or financial situation, there is always something you can do that will benefit animals in need.
Fostering is an amazing and rewarding experience. Fostering animals while they recover from a major surgery or just waiting for a permanent home is essential for animals. As much as we enrich the lives of our shelter pets there is no place like a home. This will also allow us to see how a dog or cat reacts inside a household. This will help us determine the best home for the animal when the time comes for adoption. Fostering animals also allows our shelter to free up space so we can help more animals in need. Alberta Animal Services provides everything you need to foster an animal.
